Wheaton drive to keep Shakespeare in the Park underway

GoFundMe to help spark 'Midsummer Night's Dream'

Fans of Shakespeare in the Park in Wheaton are offered perks for helping support the theater project through an online GoFundMe drive. Wheaton College Arena Theater and Wheaton Park District will present "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 28 and 29.

Back the bard GoFundMe incentives

Making a $50 donation online earns an invitation to an exclusive meet-and-greet event with the cast at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Emmett's Brewing Company. Visit wheatonparkdistrict.com/shakespeare to donate and for details on all the levels of giving and their respective incentives.

Performances

The show is presented in Memorial Park, 208 W. Union Ave., opening for seating at 6 p.m. Admission is free, with donations encouraged. The event benefits the DuPage County Historical Museum Foundation and its efforts to preserve history and cultural arts in the county. The rain date is Sunday, Aug. 30. Visit wheatonparkdistrict.com/shakespeare. To learn more about crowdsourcing, visit GoFundMe.com.

Organizers of the production note in a news release that Shakespeare in the Park also provides student education opportunities with aspiring local artists, allows access to the arts for all income levels, and brings high-caliber artists from Broadway to DuPage County for entertainment and teaching purposes.
