High school football: Montini with speed to burn

Montini's Tyler Millikan runs a play during practice on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015.

Speed burners: Junior defensive back Mitch West has recorded a 4.4 40-yard dash and isn't only speedster on Montini. Fellow DB Nick Foster, QB Justin Blake, wide receiver Tyler Millikan and running back Prince Walker aren't far behind. "They did a lot of work with the track team in the offseason so our team got a lot faster this year," Millikan said.

New-look offense: Senior Justin Blake will start at QB and give the Broncos a running option from the position. Blake was a receiver last year when Charles Norgle III started at QB, but he is back at his natural position. "We will run some of that read option stuff and he will be able to keep it and take off with it," coach Chris Andriano said.

Moving on up: After years of terrorizing Class 5A, Montini is in Class 6A this year. The Broncos made the 5A title game the past six years, but the IHSA's new success adjustment rule moved the team up a class. Sacred Heart-Griffin, which has knocked off Montini in the past two Class 5A finals, also moves up to the Class 6A due to the same rule.
