St. Charles resident Eileen Hoesly, 63, was in the knitting circle at LivingWell Cancer Resource Center in Geneva when she answered 12 questions for the Kane County Chronicle's Brenda Schory.

Where did you grow up? Pennsauken Township in New Jersey. I'm a Jersey girl.

Pets? A Maltese named Chelsea and a Yorkie-mix named Jack.

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Jamie Lee Curtis.

First job? Baby-sitting and bagger and checker at Jewel-Osco back in 1968.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A teacher. I became a teacher. I taught preschool and elementary school.

A book you'd recommend? All the books by Mary Daheim.

Favorite charity? Wounded Warrior Project and The Salvation Army.

Do you have children? Three, and one grandchild and a daughter-in-law.

Favorite ice cream flavor? Vanilla.

Words of wisdom? Not my circus, not my monkey.

Favorite local restaurant? Lupita's Cocina in Campton Hills.

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I am a voracious knitter, and I've been in the Fox Valley Knitters' Guild for 25 years, and I'm the current president. Our first meeting of the year is at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, at the St. Charles Episcopal Church, 994 N. Fifth Ave., St. Charles.
