Joliet trio charged in Barrington car shooting

Three Joliet men have been charged in a vehicular shooting in Barrington.

At 3:09 a.m. Sunday, Barrington police were called to Route 14 and Shorely Drive in Barrington to investigate the shooting.

Sherron P. Reed Jr., 20; Brandon D. Campbell, 21, and Justin L. Crowder, 19, are each charged with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm and one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm at an occupied vehicle, both of which are Class X felonies.

According to a Barrington Police Department news release, the trio attended a party with the victims and was driving home on Route 14 when they fired several rounds from an AR-15 rifle into the victims' car, which then left the road and crashed into a railroad gate.

Both victims sustained gunshot wounds, the news release stated. One is in critical condition, and the other has been released from a hospital.

The case remains under investigation. The three suspects were scheduled to appear Wednesday in Lake County court for a bond hearing.
