WOODSTOCK – Valley Hi Nursing Home won a national award for its commitment to the quality of its care.
The county-owned care facility west of Woodstock was one of seven in Illinois that was recognized with a National Quality Award, which is bestowed each year by the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living.
Valley Hi is one of five that received the bronze award, which demonstrates a commitment to quality. Two other state facilities won silver awards, which are given to homes for achievements. No state homes received the gold award for excellence in quality.
To win the bronze award, facilities develop a plan with performance benchmarks that examiners later review to determine if they have been met. Valley Hi and other homes that won the bronze award now can develop and implement plans to qualify in future years for the silver or gold awards.
The quality award was established in 1996 by the agencies, which represent more than 13,000 skilled nursing centers, assisted living communities and homes for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Valley Hi, located at 2408 Hartland Road, is a 128-bed facility occupied mostly by Medicaid recipients but with a handful of Medicare and private-pay residents.
