Annual Elmhurst Bags for Wags fundraiser brings in $6,000 for scholarships
By SUBURBAN LIFE MEDIA
ELMHURST – The seventh annual Brian E. Wagner Scholarship Fund's Bags for Wags fundraiser tournament collected $6,000 to fund scholarships for local students, according to a news release from the fund.
The sold-out, Feb. 4 event at Visitation's Valentino Center is held each year as part of the fund's effort to carry on the memory of Brian E. Wagner, who died in 1993 as a 16-year-old York High School junior in a car accident. The goal is to pay "tribute to a young man who lived his life to the fullest" and tries to recognize other unique students who are striving for greatness in their own lives, according to the fund's website.
The collected proceeds will benefit the organization's college scholarship fund, which is given each year to high school seniors who embody resilience, sincerity and optimism.
