A Chicago man facing kidnapping, domestic battery and drug charges was arrested Thursday by the Lake County Sheriff’s Warrants Team after he was found hiding in an Island Lake home.
Xavier J. Thomas, 25, of Chicago was wanted on a $75,000 warrant for kidnapping and aggravated domestic battery charges in connection with a Round Lake Beach police investigation. He also had a no-bond failure to appear warrant for cocaine manufacturing and delivery charges in connection with an Antioch police investigation.
Members of the warrants team and U.S. Marshals Service – Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force obtained information that Thomas was hiding at a house in the 4100 block of Beech Street in Island Lake, according to Lake County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Thomas was found at the residence and arrested without incident. Deputy Dwight Arrowood and his K-9 partner, Duke, found crack cocaine in Thomas’ bedroom, police said. He was then charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
A 17-year-old who was wanted also was located at the Beech Street residence and taken to the Hulse Juvenile Detention Center in Vernon Hills, police said.
Thomas will appear March 8 in Lake County Court.
