Elgin man arrested in Cary battery where man put hand over woman's mouth, said 'go to sleep'

CARY – An Elgin man has been arrested after allegations that he entered a woman’s Cary business, put his hand over her mouth and told her to “go to sleep.”

Claude A. Quisenberry, 66, of Elgin was charged Wednesday with misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct, the Cary Police Department said.

Cary police launched the investigation after a Feb. 16 complaint.

That day, officers responded to Glazy Daze Pottery Studio, 121 W. Main St., after a woman called in the report. The woman was in the business when the suspect came in and started asking about nearby vacancies, police said.

As they talked, the suspect said he was a chiropractor and offered the woman an evaluation. She agreed, but during the evaluation, the man covered her mouth and asked her to “go to sleep,” police said.

The woman freed herself and told the man to leave, which he did.

Quisenberry posted his $250 bail and has a March 6 court date.
