To the editor:
As a taxpaying resident of the Benjamin School District 25, I've received repeated taxpayer-funded mailers from the school district, and others from the pro-referendum group, highlighting the benefits of their bond request. In one of the taxpayer-funded mailer it even states, "if the plan is adopted, the tax rate in support of District 25 will actually be reduced."
If our elected officials were being truly honest with us, they would tell us the truth: If this referendum fails, our tax rate will be reduced much more. In fact, if the referendum is defeated, the average homeowner will see a $220 per year reduction in their tax bill.
Our property taxes are already too high! ...
I hope the voters in District 25 won't stand for half-truths and vote for the property tax relief we deserve by voting no on April 4.
