LOCKPORT TOWNSHIP – A vehicle fire damaged a pole barn Monday in Lockport Township.
Deputy Chief Frank Blaskey stated in a news release the fire was reported at 2:37 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Street.
"Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the front of a metal storage building in the rear of the residence," Blaskey stated. "The fire was brought under control within about 20 minutes and no injuries were reported."
According to Blaskey, crews spent about one-and-a-half hours at the scene going through the building's contents and making sure the fire was completely extinguished.
"The fire appears to be accidental in nature, a result of work that was being done on a vehicle stored in the building," Blaskey stated in the news release.
Homer Township, Lemont and Northwest Homer firefighters covered other calls while Lockport Township firefighters battled the blaze.
