To the editor:
[On April 4's] election, the city of Wheaton was diminished. The majority of residents sided with the outsiders...working through their “Americans for Prosperity” organization to defeat school district 200’s request for funds to make necessary repairs to the infrastructure of the majority of the district’s facilities. The district’s plan was thorough and well prepared. But people outside the district with a singular agenda of “no taxes, never,” having no regard for the future of our children, have used their clout, money and influence to dissuade us from providing educational services to our city. 45% of Wheaton, Warrenville and a part of Carol Stream’s citizens believe good educational and government services are worth paying for. Let’s hope that this group can become the majority before the naysayers further diminish our public bodies.
