CHANNAHON – A two-vehicle crash Monday led to three people being hospitalized and the closure of Route 6 in Channahon.
At 1:10 p.m., Channahon firefighters and police received a report of an incident in which a passenger vehicle and a van crashed into each other on Route 6, said Channahon Fire Chief John Petrakis.
The driver of the passenger vehicle and two people in the van were hospitalized as a result. Their conditions were unknown to Petrakis late Monday afternoon.
The driver of the car was heavily trapped in the vehicle and it took firefighters 17 minutes to free the driver, Petrakis said.
Both directions of Route 6 from Canal Street to McKinley Woods Road were closed because of the crash, Channahon police stated in a Nixle alert. The roadway reopened about 4:30 p.m., a later Nixle alert stated.
Police were investigating the crash Monday. Calls to Channahon police were not immediately returned.
