BOLINGBROOK — A Joliet man on parole for a 2014 felony drug conviction was arrested in Bolingbrook for firing a gun in the air Tuesday, police say.
Bolingbrook Police Lieutenant Anthony Columbus said in an email that police in the area of the police department heard several gunshots around 9 p.m. Tuesday night. Officers responded to the 200 block of Canterbury Lane to investigate.
Lakeon Gibson, 26, of the 1000 block of Sterling Ave., Joliet, fled when he saw police but was quickly apprehended, Columbus said.
Officers later found 10 shell casings in the spot they had initially seen Gibson standing and located a handgun, which police said had been discarded by Gibson after he fired it in the air.
Gibson was transported to Will County jail and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, resisting a police officer and several other charges. His bond was set at $500,000. He is next due in court July 28, according to Will County Sheriff's Office records.
