Spring Grove man falls 15 feet while trimming tree after storms, fire chief says

SPRING GROVE — A Spring Grove man was flown to the hospital Thursday after he fell from a ladder onto pavement while trimming a tree, Fox Lake Fire Department officials said.

Fox Lake Fire Battalion Chief Larry VanHoorelbeke said the Fox Lake Fire Department and Fox Lake Police Department responded at about 6 p.m. to the 8700 block of Country Shire Lane in Spring Grove.

The man had fallen backwards roughly 15 feet off a ladder onto the pavement, officials said. He had been trimming low hanging branches after the storms.

VanHoorelbeke said the man was flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville via Flight for Life for precautionary reasons because he had both head and chest injuries.

VanHoorelbeke added the man remained stable when he was flown but did not provide any further details on the man's condition or identity. The Fox Lake Police Department was not immediately available for comment Friday.
