All 8 district schools named Apple Distinguished Schools
BERWYN – Berwyn South School District 100 is once again honored for bringing innovative learning techniques into the classroom with its 1-to-1 program. All eight schools in the district were recognized as Apple Distinguished Schools, which is an honor given to the top schools in the world for creative use of technology to support learning.
In the 1-to-1 program, students in grades kindergarten through 8 are given their own iPad for use in the classroom and at home. Jordan Garrett, instructional director for District 100, said the increased use of technology makes learning more accessible for students and allows teachers to give students instant feedback.
“Our teachers are creating and designing innovative opportunities for students to help them problem-solve, think critically and work collaboratively,” she said. “Having this technology in our classrooms helps level the playing field among students, and they have the opportunity to share their thinking. This makes learning more accessible, interactive, creative and instantaneous.”
