Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra to perform 2 concerts in January

ELMHURST – The Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra will perform two concerts in January: Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons” at 2:30 p.m. Jan. 13 at the Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook and Vivacious Vivaldi at 3 p.m. Jan. 28 at Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church in Elmhurst. Featured on both programs are Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons,” Corelli’s concerto grosso and Handel’s concerto grosso in G Major, Op. 6, No. 1.

Orchestra principals will join Joshua Brown, the orchestra’s music director, conductor Stephen Alltop, and the orchestra’s Baroque ensemble. Brown, 17, has made solo appearances on NPR’s “From the Top” and on WFMT’s “Introductions” and has won numerous competition prizes, according to an Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra news release.

Mayslake concert tickets are $25 for adults, $23 for seniors and $7 for students. Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church concert tickets are $35 for adults, $32 for seniors and $12 for students. Tickets for both concerts can be bought at www.elmhurstsymphony.org or by calling the box office at 630-941-0202.

There will be a Behind the Music Stand discussion at 1:45 p.m. led by Ted Hatmaker before the Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church concert.

Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church is at 149 W. Brush Hill Road, Elmhurst.
