In addition to the forums, the district will meet individually with nearly 50 community stakeholder groups during January. Those groups include faculty and staff, student council representatives, teacher's union representatives, the District 58 Education Foundation, seniors, local government officials, District 58 alumni and parents of children who attend private schools.
"We really want the input of all taxpayers and stakeholders," said Megan Hewitt, the district's community relations coordinator. "We're really hoping to gather [feedback] from as many people as possible."
Hewitt said district officials and Board of Education members are hopeful the feedback from the survey and forums will help guide their decision on key issues such as enrollment boundaries, class sizes and school expansion proposals.
"They are aware that there are a lot of big issues in our community, and they're hoping the community can provide some guidance," Hewitt said.
