ELMHURST – Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 seeks members for a community advisory team to help review outreach efforts and materials for its Master Facility Plan.

The Master Facility Plan will focus on educational needs for students, including STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), all-day kindergarten and future-ready learning, according to a March 6 memo from Superintendent David Moyer. The plan also seeks to address maintenance and facility needs and safety priorities, the memo stated.

As part of the Focus 205/Future Focused community engagement process, the district seeks members for a community advisory team that will meet about once a month, starting at 7 p.m. March 19 on the second floor of the District 205 Administration Center, 162 S. York St., Elmhurst. The group's work should be finalized by the summer, according to the memo.

The team will be asked to ensure messages and materials for the plan are clear and easily understood, help anticipate and provide representative community questions and concerns, and offer suggestions to make sure the district is using every opportunity to reach stakeholders, the memo stated.

The district seeks about 20 to 25 members for the team, which aims to be a diverse, representative group of parents, staff and community members, who will assist the district's administration in crafting clear communications for the community, according to the memo. The team will not make decisions regarding the draft plan, as all community feedback will carry equal value and weight, the memo stated.

"The District plans to offer many opportunities for parents, staff and the community to weigh in on the Master Facility Plan," Moyer said in the memo. "The CAT is just one part of the engagement process, to help guide the District in communicating this work."

To apply, fill out the Google form at shawurl.com/38l8 by 5 p.m. March 14. In the event the number of applicants exceeds the number of available slots, there will be a lottery. Priority will be given to applicants who represent more than one group and can attend the March 19 meeting.
