The DuPage County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident in which two individuals were shot at about 10:50 p.m. May 8 at Route 53 and Butterfield Road near Glen Ellyn.
When sheriff's deputies responded to the area for a report of gun shots, they located spent shell casings in the roadway of Route 53, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Office.
During the investigation, it was determined someone had fired a gun from a vehicle into another vehicle as both cars were driving northbound on Route 53, south of Butterfield Road, after pulling out of the Walmart parking lot, the release stated.
Two subjects who were struck by the gunfire drove themselves to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment without reporting to the police they were victims, according to the release. Both subjects refused to cooperate with investigators, the release stated.
The suspect vehicle is described as a dark-colored Ford sedan with tinted windows.
Investigators are attempting to identify the suspect or suspects who fired the gun and are asking anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 630-407-2400.
