LA GRANGE PARK – The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph has broken ground in La Grange Park on a new assisted living facility for aging sisters.
The congregation hosted a special celebration June 21 that brought together village officials, donors, friends and neighbors to bless the grounds and the construction workers as they begin their work.
The building, which will have 26 apartments, will be on the campus of Nazareth Academy. The high school is the first school the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph sponsored, and the sisters remain affiliated with it.
The facility will be open to any sister within the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph, which has a number of centers in the Midwest. There are currently 80 sisters at the La Grange Park center, and many of them will occupy the building when it opens in summer 2019.
