GLEN ELLYN – Two suspects have been charged in connection with an alleged car burglary in the early morning hours on July 27.
Jaris McCullum, 18, of Lombard has been charged with burglary from a motor vehicle, according to a news release from the Glen Ellyn Police Department. In addition, he was charged with unlawful use of a weapon after he allegedly was found with a stun gun at the time of his arrest, the release stated.
In addition, a 15-year-old male juvenile was charged with criminal trespass to a motor vehicle and cited under local ordinance for a curfew violation, according to the release.
At about 1:30 a.m. July 27, Glen Ellyn police responded to the 1100 block of Londonberry Drive following the activation of a vehicle alarm, the release stated. McCullum and the juvenile allegedly were seen fleeing from the vehicle, and officers located the two subjects in the area, according to the release.
Following an investigation, both McCullum and the juvenile were taken into custody, the release stated. Detectives from the Lombard Police Department assisted with the investigation.
The Glen Ellyn Police Department is encouraging residents to remove valuables and lock their vehicles when not in use.
