The Sport Changes Life mission is to work in communities to help young people find a path to a brighter future with the help of international sports scholars.
"I'm hoping that I can extend myself outside of my comfort zone," Morrissey said. "I've never experienced anything quite like I will this year. I will be away from my family and surrounded by a completely new culture. I hope that this experience teaches me to embrace new experiences and new challenges."
Morrissey was a three-year varsity basketball player at Lyons, and the Suburban Life All-Area MVP in 2014. As a senior she led the Lions to 18 wins, and their first playoff win in four years.
At Grinnell, Morrissey graduated as the program's record holder for free throws made, third in career points. She was nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year by Grinnell, and graduated with honors in May.
