DOWNERS GROVE – For Paul Kludac, winning the Community Choice Award at Chamber630's annual awards ceremony was a big deal.
"For the community to reach out to a small business owner like me, I'm overwhelmed," Kludac said as he accepted the award at Chamber630's 11th annual awards ceremony Sept. 12 at Bobak’s Signature Events and Conference Center in Woodridge.
Kludac, who owns Detail Kings, a car detailing business in Downers Grove, was one of 40 individuals nominated for Chamber630's newest award. More than 400 votes were cast in the category. Detail Kings also has a location in Schiller Park.
The business owner was just one of several award recipients honored at the ceremony, which featured redefined categories designed to honor new members, inspirational not-for-profits, exceptional company cultures, world class customer service and young professionals.
Mike Nulicek of Edward Jones in Downers Grove received the Bright Beginnings Award, which recognizes a new Chamber630 member in the last two years who has maximized membership and shown tremendous initiative.
The Inspirational Not-for-Profit Award went to Operation Support Our Troops – America, in recognition of the Naperville organization’s contributions to local veterans, their families and active service members.
Naperville-based Corporate Strategies & Solutions, a Sandler Training Center, received the Exceptional Company Culture Award, which recognizes the operation of a business internally and externally, as well as its effects on employees and others.
Slav and Laurie Polinski of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, which is based in Downers Grove, won the World Class Customer Service Award
Chamber630 also recognized five young professionals with the 5 With Drive Award: Matthew Herbeck of Kramer & Herbeck LLC of Warrenville, Adam Hooczko of Alter Brewing Co. in Downers Grove, Reese Krajniak of the Krajniak Group at Focus Financial in Naperville, Alysha Sbarbaro of FASTSIGNS of Downers Grove and Alan Stern of McGrath Lexus of Westmont.
Gregory B. Beggs, a Downers Grove attorney, was appointed the 2018 emeritus director and received a standing ovation in recognition of his dedication to the chamber.
“It’s always an honor to recognize the excellent businesses of Chamber630,” chamber President and CEO Laura Crawford said in a news release. “The bar is set high by the judges who are all past winners and serve as award presenters. The members we recognize, the volunteers who judge and present, the sponsor businesses as well as all those that attend the event to support their colleagues, is what makes Chamber630 such a vibrant organization."
