As the Hinsdale Central defense followed him, Cox handed off the ball to receiver Sean Michel on a reverse, who proceeded to run 21 yards for a first down – the Hilltoppers’ longest offensive play of the game. Cox took it from, scoring six plays later on a 1-yard run to give Glenbard West a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter.
“[My goal was] Four yards [on] every play”, said Cox, who ran for 129 yards on 29 carries. “ We knew that this is a great defense. We knew that there wasn’t really going to be any big plays this game, but came out, pounded it hard and got out with a ‘W’.”
