ELMHURST – Elmhurst police have not yet been able to find a car that reportedly was stolen at 3:50 p.m. Nov 9 at BP, 1003 N. York St. in Elmhurst.
An Elmhurst police officer responded to the scene following the incident in which the victim reportedly left his keys in the ignition with the vehicle, a blue 2007 Toyota, running and his iPhone on the passenger seat to walk into the station to prepay for gas, according to police reports.
When the victim returned to the gas pump, the vehicle was gone, reports stated.
Security video at the site showed a suspect entering the unattended vehicle and leaving the scene eastbound on Grand Avenue, according to police reports.
Elmhurst Police Deputy Chief Mike McLean said in a phone interview Nov. 14 that the vehicle has not been located as of Nov. 14 and the department has not received any notifications from other departments stating the car has been located.
