Elmhurst woman charged with battery offenses

ELMHURST – An Elmhurst woman has been charged with domestic battery, battery to a peace officer and resisting after a call regarding a domestic battery following an incident Nov. 21 at the York Meadows Condominium Associates complex, 841 N. York St. in Elmhurst.

Elmhurst Deputy Police Chief Mike McLean said Nov. 29 that a bystander called the police after seeing an altercation in a grassy area near the complex.

Shante E. Dansby, 22, of the 900 block of North York Street, Elmhurst, was charged after a reporting officer saw Dansby grabbing and pulling the arms of another person, McLean said.

Dansby then allegedly hit and spit on the officer while she was being detained before she was taken into custody and transported to the station, according to police reports.

Diquoine Rashad Wells, 25, of the 5800 block of North 117th Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was arrested at the same time and location and charged with obstructing identification and as a fugitive from justice after providing a false name and being found to have five warrants out of Wisconsin, the reports stated. Both Wells and Dansby were transported to DuPage County Jail, according to reports.
