DuPage County reports 4 more COVID-19-related deaths, 57 new cases

An additional four DuPage County residents have died from COVID-19-related illnesses, bringing the total number of deaths in the county to 17, according to a DuPage County Health Department news release. The individuals are:

• A female resident of a Willowbrook long-term care facility in her 70s with underlying conditions.

• A female resident of a Burr Ridge long-term care facility in her 80s with underlying conditions.

• A male resident of Elmhurst in his 50s with underlying conditions, who had been living in the community.

• A male resident of Elmhurst in his 70s with underlying conditions, who had been living in the community.

There are 57 new cases of COVID-19 in the county, health officials said, bringing the total to 495.

Regarding the 82 outbreak-associated cases [including 11 deaths] among DuPage County residents:

• 42 cases, including seven deaths, are attributed to the Willowbrook long-term care facility; 20 cases, including four deaths, are attributed to six additional long-term care facilities; and 20 cases are attributed to nine outbreaks in other congregate settings or large gatherings.

Illinois has 1,209 new cases of COVID-19 and 53 more people have died, the Illinois Department of Public Health announced Friday.

Thirty-three people in Cook County and 11 in Lake County have died since Thursday. Additional deaths include a woman in her 90s in Kane County, as well as a man and woman in their 80s and a man in his 90s in Will County.

Illinois has now seen 8,904 total positive cases and 210 deaths, as of Friday. According to the IDPH, the state has now tested 48,048 people.

Chicago has 3,815 confirmed cases of COVID-19, while the rest of Cook county has 2,296 cases.

Lake County has 608, Will 455, Kane 176, McHenry 102, Kendall 37, DeKalb 19, Whiteside nine, Grundy seven, La Salle six, Carroll four, Bureau two and Ogle one.
