U.S. Rep. Bill Foster decried the widespread delivery delays that U.S. Postal Service customers are experiencing.
Foster, D-Naperville, said in a statement these growing delays are “unacceptable.” He blamed the Trump administration, saying that the problems are a “direct result” of its actions to weaken the postal service.
“As we approach a national election in the midst of a pandemic, it is essential that voters can trust USPS to deliver mail-in ballots on time for people who want to exercise their right to vote from home while protecting themselves from exposure to COVID-19,” Foster said in the statement.
“Every voter, regardless of political persuasion, should have confidence that their vote will be counted whether they choose to vote in-person or from home,” Foster said.
Foster joined other members of Congress in urging the postmaster general in a letter to alleviate delays.
